Towel Cakes

Towel cakes are not only beautiful party favors, they are extremely useful too. These types of cakes are not edible and are mainly for decoration purposes. These are handmade from towels and washcloths that are rolled and shaped to resemble yummy cakes. To make your own towel cake, you will need 2 large towels, 2 medium-sized towels, 2 small hand towels, straight pins, silk ribbons, real or faux flowers, appliqués, and a small gift. Bear in mind that you should choose 1 beautifully patterned and colored large towel to make your cake towel even more appealing.

1.) Fold the large towels in half lengthwise. Roll the plain large towel loosely and place it on top of the folded decorative towel. Secure them together with pins and roll.
2.) Do the same step with the smaller sized towels and stack them vertically together according to size. You should now have a three-tiered towel cake. If you prefer more stability, insert cardboard rounds on each tier.
3.) Take your silk ribbons and wrapped each bundle with them. Make sure that each tier has a lovely bow adorning it.
4.) Take your fresh or faux flowers, appliqués and other embellishments and decorate your towel cake by tier. Depending on the occasion you’ll be giving your towel cake, make it as elegant and fun as possible.
5.) Add your gift on top of the towel cake to make sure that the recipient sees it at once. This could be a beautiful piece of jewelry, fragrant soaps or candles or even a high-technology gadget.
